Pambansang Pabahay’ breaks ground for 745 condo units in Calamba

CALAMBA, Misamis Occidental (PIA) -- A new low-cost housing project is set to rise in Calamba, Misamis Occidental, as part of the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino (4PH) Program of the national government.

The project will cover an area of 11,093 square meters in Purok 3, Barangay Northern Poblacion, and will be named "Green Hills Village." The housing program is aimed at providing affordable housing options for the people of Misamis Occidental, and it will cost around P1.10 billion.

The project will consist of five buildings with six stories each, providing 745 affordable condominium units with essential amenities to ensure that the Calambahanon and Misamisnon families have access to decent housing.

The Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) and Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the construction and development of the housing program were officially signed on February 18, 2021, with Mayor Luisito "Jun" Villanueva Jr., MNSA Mr. Randy Apdujan, and Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development (DHSUD) Regional Director Ariel Abragan.

Governor Henry S. Oaminal, PMGen. Edgar Alan Okubo, (DHSUD) RD Abragan, MNSA Apdujan, and Mayor Villanueva, along with representatives of Kik Beng Him, led the groundbreaking ceremony for the Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino Housing (4PH) Project.

During the ceremony, Mayor Villanueva expressed his support for the program and hoped that the construction of this Pambansang Pabahay project would finish within 2 years.

For his part, Gov. Oaminal committed to fulfilling the Misamisnons' dream of owning an affordable, safe, and comfortable home.

“Ato gyud interest ang paghatag og housing program sa atong mangakatawhan dili lamang in the city of Ozamiz because in 2022, together with the local executives who are here present with our two Congressmen, Jason Almonte of the first district and Congressman Ando Oaminal of the second district, we committed ourselves to deliver that part of the services nga atong gihatag sa mga Misamisnon mao ang paghatag og maong programa sa housing ngadto sa dili maka afford,” Oaminal said.

Meanwhile, DHSUD Regional Director Ariel Abragan shared that the Pambansang Pabahay program of PBBM aims to displace informal settlers and provide houses to those who want to own a house.

He also thanked Calamba Mayor Jun Villanueva and Oaminal for supporting this project. He added that without the help of the LGU, the vision of providing affordable housing for everyone in the province would not be realized.

“Kini nga proyekto (4PH Project) dili ni siya muundang dinhi kun dili kini magpadayon sa tibuok probinsya sa Misamis Occidental tungod kay supportado kita sa atong gobernador. Without the help of the LGU, dili gyud ni matuman ang vision sa atong presidente,” he added.

[This project (4PH Project) will not stop here if it does not continue in the entire province of Misamis Occidental because we are supported by our governor. Without the help of the LGU, the vision of our president will never be fulfilled.]

This project is yet another remarkable achievement of the Asenso administration. Its unwavering efforts to serve the people and improve their lives are reflected in the successful execution of this project.

Calamba town is the first town to implement the 4PH in Misamis Occidental, and this historic event is a beacon of hope and progress for the people of Misamis Occidental. (PGMO/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
