Plaridel LGU celebrates Women's Month with focus on sustainable agriculture, empowerment

PLARIDEL, Misamis Occidental (PIA) -- As the month-long celebration of Women's Month unfolds, Plaridel Municipality takes pride in hosting a series of impactful events centered around the theme "Women Advocating for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion."

At the forefront of these initiatives are the municipal mayor, Gadwin E. Handumon, and the municipal agricultural officer, Virginia C. Namocatcat.

The commencement festivities for Women's Month were spearheaded by the female soldiers of the 10th Infantry “Steady On” Battalion led by 2LT Marbelle Rose D. Duran (AGS), PA.

The establishment of community gardens, a project that Namocatcat has championed, is one of the standout initiatives during this celebration. This initiative aims to underscore the significance of sustainable agriculture, especially among female soldiers.

Namocatcat, recognized for her commitment to agricultural development, has taken the lead in promoting sustainable practices that empower women in the agricultural sector. Through the community gardens project, she envisions creating a platform for women to actively participate in and contribute to the local agricultural landscape.

The theme "Women Advocating for Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion" resonates through the various activities planned for Women's Month. Plaridel Municipality is dedicated to fostering an environment where women are not only recognized for their invaluable contributions but are also actively involved in initiatives that promote gender equality, diversity, and inclusion.

The community gardens project aligns seamlessly with the municipality's broader commitment to sustainable development and environmental stewardship. By encouraging sustainable agriculture practices, Plaridel aims to empower women to play a more prominent role in the local economy, ensuring not only food security but also fostering a sense of community and shared responsibility.

As Plaridel Municipality continues to champion the cause of women's empowerment, it invites everyone to participate in the diverse array of Women's Month activities planned throughout March. These events are designed not only to celebrate the achievements of women but also to inspire positive change and inclusivity in the community. (10IB/PA/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)

Vegetable planting is more than just a means of growing food; it is a powerful tool for women's empowerment. By connecting with the earth, nurturing life, and reaping the rewards of their labor, women can cultivate a sense of strength, resilience, and independence. Through vegetable planting, women can sow the seeds of change, growth, and empowerment in their own lives and the world around them. (10IB/PA)
