Kapatagan Provincial Hospital elevates patient care with new endoscopy, colonoscopy unit

KAPATAGAN, Lanao del Norte (PIA) — In celebration of Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month on March 5, the Kapatagan Provincial Hospital (KAPPH) introduced the first endoscopy and colonoscopy unit in the province.

The new endoscopy and colonoscopy unit signals a significant advancement in the local healthcare landscape of the province and eliminates the need for residents to travel to nearby cities for these services.

Dr. Arman Colao, KAPPH Chief of Hospital, highlighted the significance of endoscopy and colonoscopy machines in diagnosing colorectal cancer symptoms.

Colao expressed gratitude to Governor Imelda 'Angging' Quibranza-Dimaporo for the invaluable support extended to the healthcare sector. He also noted that alongside the operational endoscopy and colonoscopy unit, 10 dialysis machines are fully functional, with plans underway to restore the operation of the CT scan machine in the hospital.

Moreover, patients in need of these crucial screenings can now access them locally, with Dr. Abdel Hussein D. Lucman, a gastroenterologist from Amai Pakpak Medical Center, overseeing the procedures.

During the program, Lucman stressed the importance of early detection in combating colon cancer.

“Kailangan niyo pong maintindihan [You need to understand that] colon cancer is preventable. It is treatable, and it is beatable. So join hands with us; together, we can beat colon cancer if we treat it early. Everyone wins when everyone supports awareness," he said. (PIO LDN/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
