MisOcc holds in-house training for athletes prepping for NMRAA 2024

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- The Misamis Occidental Provincial Government, through the initiative of Gov. Henry Oaminal, initiated a comprehensive in-house training program—a strategic move to uplift the capabilities of local athletes while acquiring a competitive advantage in the forthcoming Northern Mindanao Regional Athletic Association (NMRAA) 2024.

This would fortify athletes’ skills and talents as well as enhance overall favorable conditions for the One Asenso Misamis Occidental Provincial Athletic Association.

This would fortify athletes’ skills and talents as well as enhance overall favorable conditions for the One Asenso Misamis Occidental Provincial Athletic Association.

The in-house training program, which began on February 12, will be pushed until the Northern Mindanao-wide NMRAA competition kicks off on May 13 in Camiguin.

The training has brought together a dedicated team of nearly 150 coaches, assistant coaches, and trainers, with their collective effort targeted at honing the athletic abilities of over 500 students participating in 24 different sports disciplines.

The Provincial Government's commitment to this endeavor transcends mere lip service as it provides sufficient supplies of nutritious meals, essential hygiene kits, and medical supplies to participating students.

Furthermore, the initiative highlights the deployment of the most competent trainers and coaches, who will ensure that athletes receive top-tier guidance and instructions.

While the primary focus remains on enhancing physical health and endurance, the training program also places importance on the development of healthy habits and necessary motor and social skills.

Importantly, it aims to strike a delicate balance, ensuring that the athletes' academic pursuits remain unaffected by their sports enthusiasm.

Oaminal underscored his optimism that the program would unleash the young Misamisnons’ full potential.

“Our athletes represent the embodiment of our province's sporting aspirations. By providing them with the necessary resources and support, we are not only nurturing their athletic abilities but also fostering a culture of excellence, fair competition, and resilience,” Oaminal said.

The program showcased Misamis Occidental's unwavering commitment to advancing local sports while empowering every youth.

“As the NMRAA 2024 draws near, all eyes will be on the province's representatives, as they strive to showcase their newfound skills and elevate the region's sporting stature on the national stage,” Oaminal said. (PGMO/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
