MANILA -- President Ferdinand R. Marcos Jr. has signed four new laws renaming circumferential and bypass roads, a bridge, and a national highway in various areas in Central Visayas, Ilocos Region, Northern Mindanao, and in the Bicol Region.

In a four page Republic Act No. 11987, President Marcos renamed the Bohol Island Circumferential Road as “The President Carlos P. Garcia Circumferential Road,” which traverses through Brgy. Poblacion III, towards north of Tagbilaran City and returns to the same barangay from the eastern side of the city.

President Marcos also signed into law Republic Act No. 11988, renaming the Urdaneta City Bypass Road to “Ambassador Eduardo ‘Danding’ M. Cojuangco Jr. Avenue,” traversing Barangays Nancayasan, Santo Domingo, Santa Lucia, Camantiles, and Anonas of Urdaneta City, Pangasinan.

The President also signed into law Republic Act 11989, renaming the Tambacan Bridge to “Mariano Lluch Badelles Sr. Bridge,” which traverses the Iligan River in Barangay Tambacan, Iligan City in the Northern Mindanao Region.

The chief executive also signed into law Republic Act 11990, naming a national highway as “Speaker Arnulfo ‘Noli’ Fuentebella Highway,” stretching from Brgy. San Juan Bautista, traversing through Barangays Tagongtong, Abucayan, Hiwacloy, Digidigon, Balaynan and Payatan in the Municipality of Goa.

Included in the national highway are Barangays Lupi, Tierra Nevada, Binalay, Camagong, Salvacion, San Roque, San Ramon, Sagrada, La Medella, Magsaysay and San Vicente in the Municipality of Tinambac up to Brgy. Nalayahan in the Municipality of Siruma, Province of Camarines Sur.

The Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) is mandated to issue the necessary rules, orders and circulars to implement the provisions of all four newly signed laws within 60 days from its effectivity.

President Marcos signed all four new laws on March 21, taking effect 15 days after their respective publications in the Official Gazette, or in a newspaper of general circulation. (PND)
