From conflict to cooperation: ATI-10, GreenMinds lead efforts to reintegrate rebel returnees

Hearts, once hidden behind the challenging terrain and the treacherous slope of the mountains, have now once again united in a sense of community.

The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC)-10, in partnership with GreenMinds Incorporated, organized a social preparation training program in Malaybalay City, Bukidnon, tailored for selected rebel returnees on March 20–22.

The primary goal of this program is to bolster the End Local Communist Armed Conflict (ELCAC) efforts, focusing on sustaining progress and enhancing the provision of essential services, livelihood opportunities, and comprehensive infrastructure development in remote and conflict-affected areas.

Furthermore, the training aligns with the Gender and Development (GAD) Program, which addresses the disparities in societal roles and conditions between men and women. Joshua B. Mercado, the center’s ELCAC and GAD alternate focal person, presented and discussed gender and development with the participants.

The training methodology encompasses a blend of lectures and practical workshops designed to equip participants with the necessary skills for successful reintegration into their communities, with a specific emphasis on fundamental agricultural practices.

The 403rd Infantry (Peacemaker) Brigade, 4ID, PA, under the leadership of BGen. Michele B. Anayron Jr., actively supported the training center in the selection process of participants, emphasizing the importance of gradual mindset transformation through dedication and time.

Anayron outlined the participants' journey from using illegal weapons and opposing the government to gaining knowledge, becoming powerful individuals and organizations dedicated to embracing change, and finally emerging.

Their transformation serves as a powerful testament to the impact of personal growth and the potential for constructive societal change, underscoring the significance of aiding individuals in their pursuit of peaceful and productive lives. (ATI-10/PIA-10)
