Oaminal embeds good governance in village leaders

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- Misamis Occidental Gov. Henry S. Oaminal is bent on improving good governance among the province’s local government officials and barangay leaders.

During the basic orientation course for Barangay Newly Elected Officials (BNEO) for GREAT, Gov. Oaminal emphasized the importance of empowering villages as the primary unit of governance in the province. He promised to continue advocating for measures that would help barangay officials improve their capabilities and receive the benefits they deserve.

[In our service today, we are trying to be honest in our jobs. This BNEO for GREAT—you barangay officials, after your orientation, you will become outstanding public servants, and one of the values of being outstanding is being sincere and dedicated—this is because of our goal to uplift our people.]

Oaminal’s vision revolves around the progress of Misamis Occidental through the 5Ms of Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon, and Malipayon. He hopes that barangay leaders will work towards uplifting the lives of their constituents.

The governor urged all barangay officials to improve their services and become critical actors in his administration’s efforts to improve the economic conditions of the province. He reminded them of their heavy responsibility and crucial roles in helping spur development in their respective barangays.

Oaminal also emphasized the importance of sincerity and dedication in their work as he asked all elected barangay officials to become a bridge for innovation and better governance and to strive to improve their values in their daily lives.

[You chose to be selected to serve; you won because they saw in you the sincerity to serve. Our projects and services need to be delivered to the people, which is why now we need to change; we will improve our values in our lives.]

Oaminal touted a series of noteworthy projects and programs implemented during his first year in office.

Further, he extended assistance, worth P50,000, to all barangays to address the needs of their villages. (PGMO/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
