Army’s 103rd brigade disbands 3 DI-MG rebels, recovers war armaments

MARAWI CITY (PIA) -- The Philippine Army's 103rd Infantry Brigade neutralized three members of the Dawlah Islamiyah-Maute Group (DI-MG) and recovered significant war materials in an encounter in Barangay Lindongan, Munai, Lanao del Norte on April 13, 2024.

Troops engaged heavily armed remnants of the DI-MG, led by @MAS’OD and @ABU JIHAD, in a confrontation lasting approximately 20 minutes.

The encounter resulted in the neutralization of three DI-MG rebel members identified as @FIRDAUS, @FARIS, and @MUSAB.

Recovered war materials include three M14 rifles, one dummy gun, six backpacks, and 7.62mm ammunition.

During the encounter, shrapnel caused minor injuries to one soldier's chin. Medical personnel treated the soldier immediately and transported him to a hospital for further care.

Brigadier General Yegor Rey Barroquillo Jr, commander of the 103rd Brigade, commended the troops for their swift and decisive actions in neutralizing the DI-MG presence in the area.

"The recent significant result of our operation against the DI-Maute Group is a manifestation of our relentless drive to rid the Lanao provinces of the presence of DI," stated BGen Barroquillo, emphasizing that the Army will not stop until every member of the DI-Maute Group is neutralized.
