BARMM officials to discuss revenue code with finance experts

The Bangsamoro Government through the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Management (MFBM), will hold a learning session with finance experts on April 16-17 in Manila to discuss the Bangsamoro Revenue Code

The learning session, in collaboration with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), would serve as a venue to present the policy, economic, and cultural considerations, salient features, and process of formulating the proposed bill.

MFBM Minister Atty. Ubaida Pacasem recently met with the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Committee on Ways and Means to discuss enhancements to the bill, including its dates and timelines.

"As one of the priority legislations, it was the last to be filed by the Government of the Day," said Pacasem, who is also a Parliament member.

The Bangsamoro Revenue Code was on its second reading during the second regular session of the Bangsamoro Parliament on Feb. 29.

Once enacted, the Revenue Code will promote Islamic Finance in the region, ensuring fairness and sustainability in the industry while showcasing the region's dedication to financial openness and equality.

Pacasem added that the code could be passed into law in October this year by the 80-seat BTA parliament. (BIO/PIA Lanao del Sur)
