Child survivors of abuse in MisOcc learn baking skills

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- The provincial government initiated several activities, like learning how to bake, to help young Asenso Misamis Occidental Refuge (AMOR) residents, who are child survivors of abuse, forget unwanted memories brought about by stress and their traumatic experiences this month in observance of the Girl-Child Week celebration.

Dr. Noralaine R. Rasul, TESDA provincial director, led the children in introducing them to baking activities in collaboration with the TESDA Provincial Office. "This initiative aims to provide children with valuable skills and knowledge that they can use as potential income-generating opportunities once they graduate from the AMOR shelter," she said.

Such activities also serve as therapeutic exercises and educational journeys after the children's traumatic experiences. This enriches their lives with newfound skills and experiences that will stay with them for years to come, the provincial government said.

The initiative underscores Gov. Henry S. Oaminal's unwavering commitment to the future of these children, in line with his 5Ms agenda. This agenda prioritizes programs, projects, and activities under the Malinawon component, ensuring that all "Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon Malamboon og Malipayon." (PGMO/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)

The celebration of Girl-Child Week marked a memorable occasion for the young residents of Asenso Misamis Occidental Refuge (AMOR) as they enjoy the delightful world of baking. This experience coincided with the Girl-Child Week celebration, held during the fourth week of March.
