MisOcc LGU stretches budget, enhances healthcare access for residents

MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental purchased a variety of drugs, medicines, and medical supplies sufficient for its five provincial-run hospitals, noting that it could financially save approximately P25 million.

The MisOcc government assured that the procurement process for the medicines was executed meticulously and that the purchasing regulations were strictly observed.

The original budget for the procurement of supplies was P73 million. The provincial government reduced the approved budget contract to P57 million without compromising quality or quantity of needed supplies.

Its honest procurement practices also led to the final bidding of around P48 million, indicating significant savings to government funds. Gov. Henry Oaminal emphasized the province's unwavering commitment to optimizing and judiciously utilizing public funds without compromising medical care standards.

Meanwhile, the delivery of the procured supplies began at 11:00 p.m. on March 23, with the Provincial General Services Office (PGSO) working overtime “to ensure the safe handling and storage of the medicines and supplies.”

To streamline distribution, the PGSO will centrally manage these resources, ensuring prompt access for the hospitals based on their needs.

Misamis Occidental government said such an initiative not only strengthens the healthcare system within its jurisdiction but also showcases its commitment to responsible financial management and the well-being of the public amidst ongoing challenges. (PGMO/PIA-10/Misamis Occidental)
