Misamis Occidental launches program to aid at-risk youth for safer communities

OROQUIETA CITY, Misamis Occidental (PIA) -- The Provincial Government of Misamis Occidental, in partnership with the Provincial Council for the Protection of Children (PCPC), launched the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program (CLJIP), aimed at rehabilitating youth offenders and deterring criminal activities.

Stakeholders from various sectors convened on April 23-24 at the Asenso Misamis Occidental Sports and Cultural Center here to formulate the CLJIP. Backed by crucial stakeholders, including the Provincial Council on Anti-Trafficking, Child Protection, and Violence Against Women and Children (PCAT-CP-VAWC), this initiative marks a significant step towards tackling juvenile challenges and extending assistance to vulnerable adolescents.

This is in line with Governor Henry S. Oaminal's unwavering dedication to proactive measures for at-risk youth and the prevention of delinquency has been consistently demonstrated throughout his administration. His emphasis on collaboration underscores the necessity of comprehensive support systems for young individuals grappling with adversities.

The CLJIP adopts a multifaceted approach encompassing educational assistance, counseling services, skills training, and community engagement initiatives tailored to meet the diverse needs of youth.

It also serves as a holistic response strategy involving various government sectors and agencies, alongside civil society organizations, with the overarching objective of reducing new cases involving at-risk children and facilitating their rehabilitation and reintegration.

The program embraces diversion and intervention schemes, with a primary emphasis on intervening in specific cases and fostering nurturing environments conducive to positive youth development. (PGMO/PIA-10 Misamis Occidental)
