Tambulig farmers grateful for newly rehabilitated main canal

TAMBULIG, Zamboanga del Sur (PIA) - The Balucot New Village Tambulig Irrigators Association (BNVT-IA) extended their deepest gratitude for the swift rehabilitation of the Tambulig Main Canal (TMC).

(We, at the Balucot New Village Tambulig-Irrigators Association, extend our heartfelt gratitude for the monumental project that has greatly supported all farmers, especially our Tambulig Main Canal (TMC), which is vital for accessing water in Balucot. Thank you very much for your prompt support, especially in responding to our plea for action.)

The rehabilitation of the TMC holds immense significance for the farming community, as it irrigates approximately 650 hectares of farmland. Pepito stressed how serious it was for the farmers when the canal collapsed, emphasizing the urgency of the situation.

“Kay ug wala ni siya aksyoni, luoy kaayo amoang mga farmers. 650 hectares ang basakan nga maoy makapribilihiyo ana nga tubig,” she added.

(If action wasn't taken promptly, our farmers would have suffered greatly. The 650 hectares of farmland dependent on this water source would have been severely affected.)

Due to budget constraints, the NIA swiftly mobilized temporary measures using pipes and PVC lining to address the immediate concerns. President Pepito underscored the critical role played by NIA in swiftly responding to their needs and, ensuring that farmers receive the necessary water supply for their fields.

“Tungod sa inyong pag-aksyon dayun, mapasalamaton kaayo mi kay ang tanan nga 650 hectares ug apil na sa mga mag-uuma, malipayon kaayo nga nakadawat sa maong tubig nga nakayanap sa ilang mga basakan,” Pepito stated.

(Thanks to your immediate action, we are immensely grateful because all 650 hectares and the farmers relying on them are now joyfully receiving the water they need for their fields.)

The impact of the canal rehabilitation extends beyond the immediate vicinity of Balucot, benefiting neighboring areas as well.
