ISABELA CITY, Basilan(PIA) – The local government of the City of Isabela de Basilan is now in full swing as it prepares for the HAPIsabela Open Water Swim event, dubbed 'Goyak' (Sama and Yakan word that means wave) as part of this year’s Sakayan Festival.

This activity, organized by the City Tourism Office, is set to take place on April 27 and 28. The local government unit, under the leadership of Mayor Sitti Djalia A. Turabin-Hataman, collaborated with the Department of Tourism-Zamboanga Peninsula to ensure the success of this event.

The HAPIsabela Open Water Swim Isabela de Basilan Leg aims to promote the sport of open water swimming, foster economic growth, and encourage community engagement. Moreover, it sought to showcase the rich cultural heritage of the City of Isabela de Basilan and highlight the commitment to promoting tourism in the region with the support of the local government, the Department of Tourism (DOT), the Zampen Open Water Swim Circuit, and the people of Isabela de Basilan.

As the countdown to the HAPIsabela Open Water Swim Isabela de Basilan Leg began, the city prepared to embrace the colors of Mindanao and celebrate the love for open water swimming, their city, and the Philippines. The event would truly be a testament to the resilience and spirit of Isabela City de Basilan, as they opened their arms to the world and invited everyone to experience the beauty and warmth of their home.
