Zambo SK seeks to empower youth for better employment, education opportunities

ZAMBOANGA CITY (PIA) – The Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) National Federation aspires to provide every youth the opportunity to actively engage, acquire skills, get employed, and participate in meaningful endeavors that contribute to positive change.

Carol Julianne Dalipe, the newly-elected SK National Federation head and SK president of Zamboanga City, shared her vision and concrete plans to empower the youth, particularly focusing on education, mental health, and employability during the recent PIA Kapihan na Zamboanga.

“Education is very important. This is our ticket to a better future, and we need to ensure that opportunities for education are within the reach of the youth,” Dalipe said.

Under her leadership, initiatives to provide access to education and promote employability are her top priorities. Dalipe aims to provide youth with various skills training programs and employment opportunities in collaboration with agencies like the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) and the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).

SK National Federation President Carol Julianne Dalipe shares plans and programs for the youth in Zamboanga City and in the Philippines during an interview in PIA Kapihan na Zamboanga episode.

The program is designed to offer comprehensive skills training tailored specifically for out-of-school youth, with the primary objective of equipping them with the necessary skills to secure employment opportunities that align with their capabilities.

Bridging the gap between government initiatives and youth aspirations, Dalipe envisions a collaborative effort where the youth can learn and earn simultaneously. This involves partnering with both government agencies and the private sector to create avenues for youth development and economic empowerment.

Recognizing the critical importance of mental health, Dalipe is also pushing for a more open and supportive approach.

"We must be honest about our feelings and not hesitate to seek help," she asserteds.

Her plans include organizing mental health-friendly activities and events, promoting sensitivity and understanding towards mental health issues, and emphasizing the well-being of the youth, especially for Zamboangueños. (KSA/RVC/MLE/DBE-GIP/PIA9-Zamboanga City)
