Camiguin water firm prioritizes safety standards for residents

SAGAY, Camiguin (PIA) -- The Camiguin Water Company (CWC), which prioritizes resident welfare in all aspects of its operations, has emphasized its dedication to strict safety regulations and preventative measures in order to guarantee the security and dependability of the water supply during the Camiguin Integrated Water Service Cooperative (CIWASCO) General Assembly and Election of Officers for Sagay and Guinsiliban on April 26 at Sagay Gymnasium.

"Atong gi-ensure nga ang water meters kay calibrated. Karon, gitrabaho nato ang 300-meter pipeline tabok sapa sa Tuasan within two weeks para ma-restore ang atong serbisyo," said CWC Technical Engineer James Enguito.

(We ensure that the water meters are calibrated. Currently, the 300-meter pipeline across the Tuasan River is also being worked on within two weeks to restore our service.)

CWC also conducts daily water quality testing using a potable water testing device to measure water quality in tanks compliant with Philippine National Standards for Drinking Water (PNSDW) standards. Each tank has sampling points, where CWC collects samples on a daily basis to ensure water quality meets standards. CWC stated that they immediately make adjustments if any tank fails to meet PNSDW standards. Sampling tests are also conducted in nearby and distant areas to verify the quality of the water.

In the water treatment process, chlorine is dosed, with careful measurement of the amount added. Monthly samples are tested in the laboratory to further assess water quality, in addition to daily checks.

Designated technical personnel circulate among all water facilities, ensuring that they rotate according to a changing schedule. Using the Potable Water Testing Device, daily water quality testing occurs in all reservoirs to confirm compliance with PNSDW standards. Sampling points in all reservoirs ensure that clean and safe water flows to households.

Enguito added that CWC only uses chlorination as a water treatment method, precisely measuring and monitoring the levels of chlorine.

During emergency situations such as water supply loss or deterioration, he said the company has established a dedicated customer service hotline for prompt citizen reporting. Trained technical teams promptly assess the situation to devise effective solutions, ensuring swift restoration of normal water supply.

The engineer also shared that CWC employs transparent communication channels to keep residents informed. Through its official Facebook page, the company disseminates complete details and maps of affected areas during major repairs. Additionally, technical teams personally visit mayors and barangays to provide crucial repair information.

"As of now, naa kita’y mga around P70 million nga na-invest sa Camiguin Water para pag-maintenance ug pag-develop sa atong mga tubig.
