MAMBAJAO, Camiguin (PIA) --  A former intern under the Government Internship Program (GIP) of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE)-10 is now working as an Administrative Aide IV, a permanent position at the Provincial General Services Department.

DOLE-10 Camiguin Provincial Field Office (Cam PFO) Chief Arlyn Bael said Arish A. Felisilda was an intern of the office from 2022 until July 2023.  

Felisilda believes that in the world of work, appropriate knowledge paired with skills, continued learning, and the right attitude boost one’s career opportunities. As a result, she passed her licensure examination for teachers (LET) in October 2022, graduating with a Bachelor of Secondary Education Major in Technology and Livelihood Education.

A 25-year-old resident of Barangay Pandan in Mambajao town took on all the challenges to increase her career opportunities, especially in government service, and financially sustain her family’s needs.

Felicilda was grateful for her internship, for she was able to gain work experience and develop her skills and knowledge in the field of public service.

“Nalipay kaayo ko kay usa ko sa mga naka-avail sa DOLE-GIP. With my new working environment, at first medyo na-pressure ko pero ginahimo nako akong best and remind myself nga normal ra masayop. Taas-taas sad nga panahon nga na-intern ko ug sa tanan nakong experiences, good or bad, nakatabang kaayo sa akong career growth,” Felisilda said.

At the start of working in a new environment, I felt pressured, but I reminded myself to always do my best and considered making mistakes as learning opportunities. In my internship experiences, good or bad, they helped me in my personal and professional growth.]
