BFAR7 holds 'Seafood Kadiwa ng Pangulo'

CEBU CITY, Cebu (PIA) -- The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources 7 (BFAR-7) held the seafood segment of the Department of Agriculture's (DA) Kadiwa ng Pangulo Program at the BFAR Regional Office 7 in Cebu City on March 18.

The "Seafood Kadiwa ng Pangulo" aimed to support and showcase local agricultural and fishery products and provide the public with an avenue to buy these products at affordable prices.

Among the fishery and agri-products displayed at the "Seafood Kadiwa ng Pangulo" were bangus (milkfish), shrimp, squid, seaweed salvaro, dried fish, fruits and vegetables, scallops, and other organic agricultural products.

The activity was participated in by 12 exhibitors from different parts of Central Visayas who showcased their agricultural and fishery products.

The exhibitors included fisherfolk associations and cooperatives that joined trainings and seminars provided by BFAR7, namely: Cebu Province Mushroom Growers Agriculture, Pestales Agriculture Cooperative, Kriza Yangan's Dried Fish, Southern Negros Agri-Fisheries Cooperative, Rachael N. Jhundy's Homemade Food Products, Payling's Dried Fish Dealer, Pilar Food Producer, Bantayan Seafoods, DSWD-SLPA-Cebu City, NDA Food Products, Bez Acre, and the Department of Social Welfare and Development-Enhanced Partnership Against Hunger and Poverty (EPAHP) program.

The opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony was led by BFAR7 officer-in-charge-regional director Mario Ruinata. 

The agency said that the next seafood fair will be held in May in line with the observance of the Farmers' and Fisherfolks' Month. (RGC/PIA7 Cebu)
