Tubod town takes bold steps to curb plastic pollution

POBLACION, Tubod, Lanao del Norte (PIA) -- The Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO) spearheaded a committee meeting on the environment held at the Sangguniang Bayan Office on February 5.

The primary focus of the meeting was to engage in a comprehensive discussion regarding the regulation of single-use plastic bags within Tubod's territorial jurisdiction.

This initiative highlights the municipality's commitment to addressing pressing environmental concerns by involving key stakeholders in policy formulation. The meeting brought together Sangguniang Bayan officials, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction Management staff, the Association of Barangay Captains president, and the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation president to ensure diverse perspectives are incorporated into policy-making processes.

Recognizing the detrimental impact of plastic pollution on ecosystems and human health, Tubod is taking proactive measures to regulate single-use plastic bags. By doing so, the municipality aims to mitigate environmental degradation and contribute to disaster risk reduction efforts.

Engr. Cypriz June Manosa of MENRO emphasized the importance of community engagement in shaping sustainable policies that align with Tubod's goal of environmental conservation. (Tubod MIO/PIA-10/Lanao del Norte)
